With a population of 166,000 Perugia is the largest city in Umbria. It is a lively medieval walled city that is home to a university and a large Italian language school for foreigners. Lots of artisan shops exist along with Etruscan ruins, churches, a large plaza, fountains, a fortress and of course plenty of restaurants. Devoted to the arts and culture Perugia hosts numerous festivals throughout the year including a famous city-wide jazz festival in July.
